After last weeks fairly grumpy article I will this week write about people who seem to get it and make Aussie wrestling looks like it has a positive future. Concrete Davidson and Spaceboy Dacey. A positive outlook indeed. Spaceboy and Concrete seem to have good heads on their shoulders and seem to have the right attitude for the business. They both work hard and train hard at the gym and seem to be students of the game. I never got the chance to work with Concrete Davidson but I did work with Spaceboy. In fact I got the honor of giving Spaceboy his first match. He listened and was very attentive to the detail of the match and when it was over he picked my brain asking how he could get better and he gets better and better every match. He actively seeks matches going as far as Perth to wrestle. He trains hard and if he can keep motivated and not get discouraged by the Aussie wrestling B.S so prevalent these days in a couple years Spaceboy can be doing really well for himself.
This brings me to Concrete Davidson. I admire Concrete so much. Its obvious he has thought this wrestling thing through and is having a real go at it. He thought over his gimmick well and has merchandise to sell and he can make so good money off merchandise. I was always a heel and heels don't sell merchandise. I had a few promo pictures made up for my final babyface run in SWA vs the Queenslanders but that fell through so I didn't do a ast run as a babyface but I was prepared for a babyface run with merchandise but as I said heels don't do merchandise. Concrete is going to make some good money. I haven't seen him work but I hear good things about his wrestling and hopefully Concrete turns his rather brilliant gimmick into some money and he can help the crowds attend wrestling. He already has been getting a little mainstream attention. I hope the promoters are smart enough to capitalize on his work. Its frustrating to do good work as he does to do a show that you work hard at only to have it wrap up by having some promoter finish the show by indulging in his fetish for stripping down to his undies in public and getting slapped in the back in front of all the children instead of giving the fans a reason to come back and see the next show and then the next show is the last one. I hope one day Concrete Davidson has the thrill like I did of main eventing a show in front of 2000 screaming fans and sending them home happy. Now that some of the lesser promoters are leaving they might get the chance to shine. I really hope in the next few months Aussie wrestling gets more men involved like Spaceboy Dacey and Concrete Davidson. Then there really will be hope for the future of Aussie wrestling.
